![]() The XAVC family of codecs offers smaller files than popular codecs like Apple ProRes, but does keep a very robust image quality with its 10bit 422 architecture. Sony’s XAVC is gaining popularity among the post-production world, as it’s primarily featured on Sony’s PMW-F5/F55 and more recently on the Sony FS7. It’s worthwhile to note that the Sony XAVC-I encoding support will only be available in the full DaVinci Resolve version and the rest of the improvements will be featured in both the Lite (Free) edition as well as the full version of the popular grading software. The latest update includes support for the flagship ARRI Alexa 65 and Panasonic V35 IDT cameras, new ACES 1.0 support, DNxHR MXF and Sony XAVC-Intra encoding enhancements as well as general performance improvements.
